The Art of Spectral Motion
Saturday, March 2nd 2013
7:00 PM — 11:00 PM
The name Spectral Motion was inspired by the luminous images we see each time we view a motion picture. The gossamer veil between reality and the events on the screen serves as the bridge by which we connect to those ghostly images whose stories are forever preserved on and in film. Spectral Motion's goal as a company is to serve the creative process of bringing these images to life time and again through artistic expression.
Founded in 1994 by Academy Award Nominee Mike Elizalde and his wife and business partner Mary Hite-Elizalde, Spectral Motion is a multi-faceted design studio specializing in the creation of astonishing cinematic creature effects, prosthetic makeup effects, state-of-the-art animatronics, dynamic costumes and action props. They bring Hollywood’s most experienced and talented effects artists and technicians together to breathe life into the things that lurk in the deepest recesses of imagination.
This exhibit features concept illustrations, maquettes, and several full-sized characters from some of the most inspiring visual effects films of the last decade, including Hellboy, Paul, Looper, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and Pacific Rim. It is a testament to each individual whose talent, dedication to their craft and artistic passion has graced the halls of Spectral Motion.
